Water2business is a licensed water retailer providing services to businesses across England and Scotland. They are the default water supplier for non-household customers in the Wessex Water and Bristol Water regions.
If your business is located in one of these areas and you haven’t switched water suppliers, Water2business is likely to manage your water supply. Outside of these regions, you would only be with Water2business if you’ve actively chosen them as your retailer.
While remaining with the default supplier may feel straightforward, it is not always the most cost-effective route. Switching your business water supplier could give you access to lower rates, more flexible tariffs, and improved customer service.

Water2business is the default water retailer for business customers in the Wessex Water and Bristol Water regions.

Water2business provides a range of tariff options designed to suit different types of businesses, from small independent shops to large multi-site organisations.
If your business hasn’t chosen a specific tariff, you will be placed on a default business water tariff. This guarantees service continuity but is usually more expensive than securing a fixed deal. Switching away from default pricing could help your business reduce ongoing water bills
With a fixed contract, Water2business sets a retail fee for the length of the agreement. This provides cost certainty and is typically more competitive than default rates. When the contract ends, you can either renew with Water2business or switch to another retailer offering the best deal for your business.
Water2business fixed contracts are backed by clear terms and conditions that set out how billing, payments, and service responsibilities are managed.
Water2business usually requires payment by Direct Debit. This helps keep accounts up to date and reduces the risk of missed payments. If a Direct Debit fails or is cancelled, you must pay by another approved method. Discounts may be withdrawn if payment terms are not met.
Invoices are normally issued in arrears, so you only pay after using your water services. This can support business cash flow and avoid upfront charges. Bills are sent by email or post, depending on your chosen preference.
When a fixed contract finishes, Water2business may offer a renewal. If no new tariff is agreed, your account will usually move onto default rates. These tend to be higher than fixed deals, so it’s worth reviewing your options before the expiry date.
A credit check may be carried out when you apply for or renew a contract. If your business has a limited credit history or payment concerns, Water2business may request a security deposit. This deposit is refundable when the account is closed and all charges are settled.
Failure to pay, or obstructing access to your water meter, could result in disconnection of services. Water2business will issue a disconnection notice first. Services can be reconnected once the debt is cleared and any reconnection fees are paid.
You can normally switch to another water retailer when your contract ends. However, if invoices are more than 90 days overdue, Water2business may object to the transfer until the balance is cleared. All outstanding charges must be settled before switching can take place.
